About this deal

Writer-director Quentin Tarantino delivers an unforgettable cast of characters— including a pair of low-rent hit men (John Travolta and Samuel L. Pulp Fiction arrives on 4K Ultra HD for the first time and, apparently, approved by Tarantino, though I often wonder if it’s a matter of watching one shot and calling it good. Whatever the case, this 2160p high-definition transfer does look great and a decent upgrade over the previous Blu-ray release. Detail is well defined and colors appear well balanced. Watching I didn’t notice any significant or obvious signs of artifacts, aliasing or other flaws. material promised a new transfer on the Blu-ray, what is included appears to be identical to the 2011

Paramount has released the long-anticipated UHD for the classic 1994 film 'Pulp Fiction,' directed by Quentin Tarantino and starring John Travolta Overall, this is a very nice looking steelbook, and a welcome addition to the growing Tarantino 4K collection. Film:This is a genre film that strives to recreate the look and feel of director Quentin Taratino’s vision. Reminiscent of the better catalog release offerings that have come to Ultra HD Blu-ray, this rendering represents faithful reproduction bumped to the next level. Pulp Fiction has never made for a commanding visual experience on home video but, that was always sort of a given determined by the cinematography and the elements necessary to convey the film’s tone. Official synopsis: Critics and audiences worldwide hailed PULP FICTION as the star-studded movie that redefined cinema in the 20th century. within the diner, even the warmly bathed low light shots in the bar where Marsellus meets with Butch -- look very prominent, healthy, and appealing. all of the legacy extras from the 2011 Blu-ray. give this attire tactile depth and realism. Faces are likewise presented with newfound complexity, showing pores and hairs with razor-precise clarity, There was no need to worry though, as Tarantino’s second film, Pulp Fiction, was a huge box office and critical hit, and cemented his place as one of the most talented and important American film makers of the modern era, something he has reminded us of with each of his subsequent films. The steelbook included a 4k bluray and 2k bluray. The 4k bluray has Dolby vision and 5.1 audio, it also has special features. The 2k bluray had 5.1 audio but only includes the movie with no special features. From what I gather this is an older bluray release as the menu is different and the old Miramax logo comes up. amplified brightness while still maintaining effortless depth and stability. Whites are pushed harder to present with a more realistic intensity and The Dolby Vision color grading offers a quality suite of critical improvements as well. The grading reveals a more vibrant picture overall, withtype just above center. A Paramount logo appears at the top and UltraHD, Blu-ray, and Miramax logos at the bottom. achieving a healthier, more complex appearance that satisfies all essential requirements for a shot-on-film picture making the transition to the UHD Here Are Some Facts on the Fiction (20:37) is a roundtable discussion with some random critics as they talk about why Pulp Fiction stood out and how it stood the test of time (though the panel has its distracter as well). Pulp Fiction : The Facts – Documentary (30:31) is a retrospective feature covering the origins of the film as well as how Quentin Tarantino broke into the business with Reservoir Dogs. It also features interviews with others involved with the production. Quentin Tarantino isn’t exactly the one-man Hollywood New Wave that some fans would like to believe, but he’s certainly a cinematic wunderkind, whose splashy debut recalls the likes of Orson Welles and Citizen Kane. It’s been widely reported that Tarantino plans to make just one more film and call it quits. For a while, he was circling around a Star Trek sci-fi/gangster project, though that’s since fallen by the wayside. If one looks for genres he hasn’t yet honored, plenty remain to be explored— kaiju films, classic monsters, Hollywood musicals, screwball comedies. But for all the entertainment value that he’s provided over the years, Tarantino hasn’t truly surprised cinephiles since Pulp Fiction. So here’s hoping that he drops the mic with something genuinely unexpected.

While this is not a UHD that is going to blow everyone away with a "wow" factor, it is a very stable and healthy image and one that offers a Through nine films now (counting Kill Bill as one), director Quentin Tarantino has taken us on a hard-boiled, blood-soaked tour of his cinematic roots. Since arriving on the scene with Reservoir Dogs in 1992, he’s paid homage to gangster films, samurai revenge epics, HK cinema, spaghetti westerns, exploitation films, and WWII commando actioners. His most recent and arguably most personal work, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, is itself an homage to the place and time of his youth. But of all his films, it’s Pulp Fiction that best represents the Tarantino style in its purest, freest form. Hands down, this is the best Pulp fiction has looked on home video. Kudos to Paramount Home Entertainment. Hopefully we can expect more of this type of support of the Ultra HD releases from their extensive catalog.

Known for its relentlessly quotable dialogue - rich with razor-sharp wit and incessant pop culture references - for its iconic characters and unforgettable shots; and for its stunning blend of striking, unflinching violence, and ironic humour; for its non-linear narrative and the distinctive style pervading throughout, Pulp Fiction ushered in a new era of crime dramas, with endless imitators but no equals, even from Tarantino himself. Paramount releases Pulp Fiction to the UHD format with a 2160p/Dolby Vision presentation. Pulp Fiction was honored with an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay (1994) and earned seven total nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director for Quentin Tarantino. Easily one of the most anticipated catalog titles to date, Pulp Fiction arrives in Ultra HD in both a standard 4K and Limited-Edition 4K Steelbook (the subject of this review). I am thrilled that it is now a part of my Ultra HD Blu-ray library. Read on to see my thoughts on its technical aspects.

For those not familiar with the details regarding Ultra HD Blu-ray you can refer to my article that includes some pertinent data on the subject. Here is the link:Paramount's SteelBook is glossy and will show some handling fingerprints. The front panel is predominately red at the top where the film's title in Pulp Fiction is most decidedly a classic film but, depending on who you talk to, the reaction to it isn’t in line with what we envision when we think of a true “classic”. Be that as it may, there is no doubt that writer/director Quentin Tarantino got it right. Among my favorite films, I love it for its rich, eclectic dialogue, ironic use of humor, and wonderfully infused pop culture/references, that combine with its edgy neo-noir, to make for one of the most entertaining films of the nineties. We don’t get an audio commentary unfortunately (Tarantino doesn’t seem to be a fan of them, not having done one since the DVD release of Reservoir Dogs), but we do get over 4 hours of extras, including cast interviews, behind the scenes featurettes, critical reaction to the film, marketing materials, and an hour long interview with the man himself.
