About this deal

My mum said that she was given Guinness by the British nurses (in Singapore) when she had my older sister!

Benedictine French liqueur offers a light herbal, spicy fragrance with aromas of dried fruits, a drier palate with soft woody notes, and a mild finish of honey. Created in the countryside of Normandy, France, this liqueur draws from the subtle alchemy of 27 herbs and spices, carefully sourced from around the world. As one of the most highly regarded ingredients for great cocktails, Bénédictine has always been a favourite in every good cocktail bar throughout the ages. Bénédictine is a favorite distilled spirit worldwide and adds a refined spiced sweetness to some of the best cocktails ever created. Benedictine selects product ingredients from the five continents with quality as the sole criterion of choice.

None of the botanicals used to make it dominates the blend and it is not medicinal like other herbal liqueurs. The recipe of Bénédictine is a commercial secret, but it is known to contain 27 herbs and spices, of which the following 21 are publicly known: [ citation needed] angelica, hyssop, juniper, myrrh, saffron, mace, fir cones, aloe, arnica, lemon balm, tea, thyme, coriander, clove, lemon, vanilla, orange peel, honey, red berries, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The origin of these plants is like a journey around the world: from Greece to Africa, to Indonesia, India and so much more. In the 1860s, a wine merchant named Alexandre Le Grand was browsing his family's collection that included acquisitions from the 1789 French Revolution.

In 1863 Alexandre Le Grand developed a recipe for an herbal liqueur, helped by a local chemist, from old medicinal recipes that he had acquired from a religious foundation where a maternal grandparent had held office as a fiscal prosecutor. The recipe is a closely guarded trade secret, purportedly known to only three people at any given time. Some of the herbs and spices to create the Benedictine DOM liqueur have been used since the biblical times and many still have a place in folk remedies. id":1791346901043,"title":"Johnnie Walker Blue Label Whisky 70cl","handle":"johnnie-walker-blue-label-70cl","description":"The rarest whisky from Johnnie Walker-a special bottle for the special occasions.Their Sambuca is an infusion of green Sicilian aniseed, plump Paduan elderberries and the purest grain alcohol.
