About this deal

New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging .

Now Jim has done us a good service by starting this thread, and letting us know that bad things can happen to some people. I have had this stove for two seasons now and in my opinion, it is a gem of a titanium, ultralight mini-stove! It will fit into any pot on the market and will nestle within the dished base of a gas canister if that is inverted in a pot.

Because the pot supports are only a couple of inches wide, however, we’d recommend using the stove with smaller and lighter pots and pans. If one decides to purchase more than one, then perhaps they should space out the purchase such that they get a stove from a different lot. The stove itself is advertised as being made of titanium, but other metals are included in the construction, mostly brass and steel. I usually just prop my pack on its side upwind and that suffices but something (metal) tighter to the stove and pot can be more efficient.

The reports all seem to have a few things in common: long burn times combined with heavy loads of water or food. We believe travel by bicycle has the power to encourage conservation, inclusivity, and respect for all people and cultures. The BRS 3000T is a fantastic stove for someone just getting started in backpacking and adventure picnicking, but is also, surprisingly, a great peace of gear for an avid outdoors person looking to lighten his or her pack weight. This stove is the smallest I’ve seen in the backcountry (not to mention, the most affordable) and it’s barely longer than a lighter. Compared to stoves I’ve used from bigger, more reputable brands, the Pathfinder Ti (or BRS 3000T) is close but not equal.

In my 750ml pot I can easily fit the BRS-3000T, a 4 oz fuel canister, a folding titanium spork, a fire steel, a Snow Peak Lip Guard , a GSI Outdoors Microgripper Pot Gripper, a Sea to Summit X Cup , and still have room left over for a few tea bags. The low cost of the BRS-3000T removes the financial barriers of owning a backpacking stove and its ease of use makes it straightforward to get burning, even if you’re completely new to cooking in the backcountry. I bought the BRS-3000T over a year ago mainly for adventure picnicking, but since then it’s been along on quite a few backpacking and kayak camping trips. The ability to regulate the gas control easily means the BRS-3000T is effective in simmering if required. If it weighs less than or equal to four ounces (113 g) but more than three ounces , then it's moderate. The BRS-3000T performs well in calm conditions and is the perfect stove for cooking easy to prepare meals.

So that made two differences and upon closer inspection it was also found that there was an indentation around the base of the pot perhaps intended to make it easier to attach the pot to the burner. I doubt that it is actually possible to get much smaller or lighter than this and still be a functional item. When subjected to our test fan blowing 2-4 mph, the BRS boiled one liter of water in 4 minutes 45 seconds (at 5,000 feet in elevation).

This positioned the stove about 1/2″ further away from the pot, which turned out to be perfect for this particular stove. When camping above treeline, you will want to find a sheltered spot for this stove or consider using it in a well-ventilated tent vestibule.
